2019 Blue Sky Gallery Pacific Northwest Viewing Drawers

On January 21, 2017, millions of people showed up in cities across the United States to march and demonstrate their beliefs for equity, tolerance and justice in the first Women’s March. This was the largest coordinated protest in U.S. history, and was reminiscent of the nonviolent civil rights protests of the 1960s.

An estimated 150,000 people marched in Seattle. A series of weekly Resist Trump Rallies, organized by Seattle Indivisible, began the following Tuesday. Additional protests and rallies, including the Tax March, the Climate March, May Day, the 2018 Women’s March, and the March for Our Lives, continued to voice important concerns.

My photos from these events echo the sentiment conveyed on a sign carried at the terminus of the Seattle 2017 Women’s March  —  the front side read “This Is Not The End” while the back side exclaimed “This Is Only The Beginning”.

I’m delighted that ten images from my series #RESIST have been selected for the 2019 Pacific Northwest Photography Viewing Drawers at Blue Sky Gallery.
