Singular/Signature Exhibition at The Center for Fine Art Photography

I’m delighted that my photo A Sabbath Prayer was selected by juror Alyssa Coppelman for the Singular/Signature Exhibition at the Center for Fine Art Photography. The Exhibition will be on display at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins from March 3 – April 1, 2017, with an Artists’ Reception on March 17, 2017

A Sabbath Prayer

This image is from my project The New Promised Land which documents Los Israelitas, an evangelical sect living along the banks of the Amazon River. This project was featured in LensWork #117. This project was a finalist in the PhotoWorld 2014 Exhibition, and received Honorable Mention in the 2014 ND Awards. It was on display at the Davis-Orton Gallery, and publicized in FeatureShoot and The Independent and The Daily Mail.

La Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadelupe

Thanks to Christy Karpinski for including four images from my project documenting La Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe in F-Stop Magazine Group Exhibition Issue 80.

Pilgrims on their Journey

This celebration occurs every year on December 12 when millions of faithful converge on the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City. According to legend, the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego, a recently converted indigenous peasant, in December 1531 on a hill above the site. Pilgrims arrive carrying candles, flowers, and statues or framed depictions of the Virgin. Many people make the final arduous approach to the shrine on their knees in order to thank the Virgin for answered prayers or to ask her for additional miracles.

Six images from were previously featured in the F-Stop Magazine Issue #65 Group Exhibition.

I’m looking forward to returning to photograph the Fiesta again this year.
